College Recruiting Tips for Athletes
Thinking About Playing in College? Here’s What to Know.
The college recruiting landscape is ever-changing, often causing confusion for families. At Penn Charter, we benefit from dedicated and professional support in navigating these waters.
Athletics Student Support Coordinator Colleen Kelly helps guide many students in continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level. She starts by stating a practical truth.
“Playing your sport in college is not easy!” she said. “It takes a lot of effort and hard work, and then it is even harder once you are there, especially D1. Student-athletes and families should consider if this is the sought-after path for their and their child’s college experience. ”
No matter a student’s future athletic plans, “communication between a student-athlete and coaches is going to help with making any decision and create the smoothest process possible,” Colleen said. “We are here to help at Penn Charter and point you in the right direction”
Colleen offered the below tips, whether a student is starting off as an Upper School athlete or about to end their PC athletic career.
- Ninth Grade: Is This What I Want? If Yes, Then Start Going After It.
- Tenth Grade: Time to Get Serious
- Eleventh Grade: Not in Kansas Anymore (Unless You Want to be Jayhawk)
- Twelfth Grade: Crunch Time
