Celebrating the Infinite Fun of Pi Day!

Pi Day is named after one of math's most famous constants and the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. On March 14, every year (3/14), students engage in activities related to pi, recite as many digits of pi as they can remember (it's infinite), and eat pie (or other circular baked goods). Middle School students hosted a bake sale - everything was round, of course, from cookies to cake to pie. In the library, students participated in various pi-related challenges, including constructing puzzles related to pi, estimating the volume of a container of candy, and seeing how many times they could hula hoop. This year Pi Day also included a canned goods drive with the goal of collecting 314 cans per middle school grade - the cans will go to Germantown Avenue Crisis Ministry and LUCY. In the Lower School, they held the first assembly for the entire division, where they learned facts about pi, got to show their knowledge off in a pi quiz, told some funny pi jokes, and then got to pie a bunch of teachers in the face! Until next year!
