Dear PC Community,
With the start of spring break and the arrival of warmer weather, our campus is buzzing with energy—longer days and outdoor activities have created a joyful atmosphere throughout the school. As we look ahead to the many culminating events to take place in these final months of the school year, we want to update you on Penn Charter’s safety and security measures, along with new enhancements and procedures designed to further support the safety of our community.
At Penn Charter, the safety and security of our students and community is our highest priority. In the last several months, we have taken a number of important steps to strengthen our safety measures, including holding expert-led training sessions on threat assessment and campus emergency response protocols for all employees, implementing advanced risk-detection technology and making several physical plant upgrades. The next step is to share with you the ways we are continuing to keep your children safe each day.
Our commitment to maintaining a secure environment that supports the health and well-being of our students remains unwavering. To share the measures we’ve put in place to support a safe campus, we are planning a Parent & Caregiver Education Program to discuss our policies, protocols, and tools, including the recent implementation of ZeroEyes. We will also reflect on the lessons learned from last fall’s threat and discuss the advanced emergency response protocols we have introduced. Additionally, we will highlight how we are educating and training our faculty, staff, and students, and address the topics of interest you have shared with us, along with concerns you may have.
This Parent & Caregiver Education Program will take place on Wednesday, April 23 at 9 am via Zoom. The session will be recorded and shared afterward for those unable to attend. This session will feature PC leadership and external school crisis and threat assessment experts we've partnered with this year.
More details, including RSVP information, will be shared after spring break.
Thank you for your continued trust as we enhance and refine our preparedness plans and procedures to support the well-being of every member of our community.
We hope you and your family have a peaceful and rejuvenating spring break.
In partnership and with gratitude,
Karen Warren Coleman, Head of School
Brendan Lee, Director of Security and Transportation
