Reminder: Middle School Conferences on March 20

Bringing home and school together in a spirit of helping our students learn and grow is a proven formula for student success. On March 20, we will nurture this integral collaboration by holding student-led conferences in the Middle School. Our hope and intention is that all conferences will be held in-person. Please sign up for a time slot with your child’s advisor.

Building on our students’ natural and appropriate desire for more independence, we provide each of our middle graders with an opportunity to lead a conference with their parents or caregivers and their advisor.

We envision an experience that will help our students develop important metacognitive and communication skills. In helping our students think about themselves as learners and communicate their reflections to the adults who care deeply for their development, we hope to place them in a strong position to be agents in driving their own school success.

By eighth grade, we hope our students lead the conference with confidence, a sense of self, mindfulness of their strengths and challenges, and an understanding of their impact on the school community.

Skills we aim to build in our students through student-led conferences include: self-advocacy, metacognition, healthy communication, leadership, reflection, humility, growth mindset, self-awareness, perseverance, empathy for self and others, follow through and creating action steps that address challenges.

We look forward to seeing our students shine!
